Show President 2010
The Launceston Agricultural Association is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Michael Stanbury of Carey Barton, St. Giles as its President for 2010.
The Stanbury family commenced farming in St. Giles at Sitcott Farm as tenants in 1796 and later moved to Carey Barton where the Carey herd of pedigree Devon cattle was established just over one hundred years ago in 1907.
Michael’s late father William started the breeding of these cattle in earnest and successfully exported pedigree Devon cattle from the Carey herd all over the world to countries including Australia, New Zealand, Brazil, Canada, Cuba, South Africa and the United States. He also travelled extensively judging the breed and was also a past president and chairman of this Association.
Our President celebrates 50 years of exhibiting Devon cattle himself this year having started in 1960 and has given great service to our show for some 35 years. We are delighted Michael has accepted the role of President for 2010 and know that he will enjoy meeting many friends, fellow exhibitors and trade associates on Show day.
